How YouTube Copyright Conflict Management Works
Review Content ID claims and request or remove ownership.YouTube Content ID scans content using audio fingerprints and compares it with works in its rights database. When Content ID is enabled for a recording and a match is found, YouTube automatically creates a copyright claim.
Related claims appear in the MeloLab dashboard, where rights holders can review, confirm, or address them and receive advertising revenue from eligible uses.
Eligibility
Only works under complete, exclusive control are eligible for Content ID. Music using non-exclusive beats purchased from services such as BeatStars or Traktrain, or containing any other non-exclusive material, is not eligible.

- Sign in to MeloLab regularly and review copyright status.
- When a claim appears, verify ownership and inspect the matched content.
- If you control the applicable rights, select Claim Ownership and upload supporting documents such as composition registrations, buyout agreements, or sublicenses. After verification, MeloLab will contact the claimant.
- If you should not control the claim, select Request Ownership Removal and MeloLab will continue the process.
Do not claim ownership of music for which you do not control complete exclusive rights. Contact MeloLab Support when assistance is required.
