Primary Artists
Naming and credit requirements for primary artists.1. Credit the principal performing artist as a Primary Artist at both release and track level.
2. A Primary Artist name must not include roles, dates, instruments, band types, websites, or other information. Do not use a label or company name as an artist name.
3. Do not include the original artist's name in any artist field for karaoke, tribute, cover, or ringtone content.
4. For remixes, including sped-up, slowed-down, and lo-fi versions, credit the original artist as a Primary Artist and assign the remix creator the Remixer role.
5. Do not use generic terms as artist names. Examples include White Noise, Yoga, Calming Music for Dogs, Lo-fi, Sped Up, Fitness, Meditation, Baby, Christmas, Hit Songs, Choir, Orchestra, or Singer. Genres such as Rock, Hip-Hop, and Smooth Jazz are also not valid artist names.
