Artwork Guidelines

Static Artwork

Content and delivery requirements for static artwork.

Image quality: Artwork must not be blurred, pixelated, mismatched, misaligned, rotated, stretched, or otherwise defective.

Metadata accuracy: Text shown on the artwork should accurately match the submitted metadata and should not use abbreviations.

Artwork must not contain:

  1. Links and websites: Website addresses, social media references, DSP logos, entertainment service names, or references to physical, video, or digital formats.

  2. Phone numbers or email addresses.

  3. Information that conflicts with or abbreviates the submitted metadata.

  4. Track lists or illegible text: Do not include a track list. Use legible type because artwork is often displayed at a small size.

  5. Descriptions or biographies: Do not include a release description or artist biography.

  6. Format references: Do not refer to digital or physical products, such as "Online," "CD," or "Disc," or to video formats. Do not advertise items not included with the release, such as "Includes DVD" or "Lyrics Included." Phrases such as "All Rights Reserved," "Registered Product," and "Copyrighted" are not allowed. A catalog number may appear, but a UPC or ISRC may not.

  7. Pricing or promotions: Do not include prices or promotional offers.

  8. Sexual or violent content: Do not include racist, pornographic, or violence-promoting material.

  9. Hate symbols: Do not include symbols that target or offend protected groups, including Nazi symbols.

  10. Misleading information: Do not name an artist who does not perform on the release.

  11. Side-by-side translations: Text must use the same language and script structure as the submitted metadata.

  12. Logos, brands, and protected images: Any logo and associated text must be justified by the metadata and directly related to an artist, producer, label, or other credited party. Do not credit designers or photographers on the artwork. Registered brands and private images belonging to a person or company are not permitted unless incidental in the background, directly relevant to the work, or justified by a metadata credit such as producer or publisher.
